Clear-ing App

I haven't done many app reviews since I put my iPad Lawyer blog on hold, but every so often I download an iPhone app that I need to shout about.

Clear is a list app for the iPhone which was released today (at the time of writing at the introductory price of 69p on the iTunes store).

It has had a load of hype from TechCrunch, amongst many others, to the extent that a pre-emptive rip-off appeared in the app store before it was even launched!

For me there are two really surprising things about the app.

One, it more than lives up to the hype. The design and useability are amazing (particularly the use of the iPhone's multitouch interface) and it looks stunningly good. It certainly won't replace Omnifocus (and it isn't meant to), but it will definitely be living on my home screen for basic lists.

Two, it is home grown rather than being the latest Silicon Valley sensation. RealMacSoftware, the developers, are actually based in Hove. This shouldn't surprise me, but it is great to see what for me is the iPhone app of the year so far coming from the UK.

Full details and a nice video are on the developer's site but at 69p you really would be better off just buying it now!
